Outdoor Country Christmas Decorating Ideas
It is getting a little chilly, so that means it's time to start setting up the outdoor Christmas decorations. It is fun to include my DIY flamingos with snow boots displayed in front of our tropical plants.
Since we live in Florida, we never have a white Christmas, but that does not have to put a damper on my Christmas decorating.

Outdoor Christmas Decorations
To make it fun, I used a few new techy gadgets for displaying Christmas lights. But, of course, I used some of my older decorations as well. At Christmas time, I love all the memories my older decorations evoke.
Yard Decorations
These adorable flamingos were a gift from my sister. My sister wanted a pattern for them since she does not have a pair. Therefore I will make her a couple of flamingos, and then I will be sharing how to make some soon.
Supplies
- Wood cut out decorations
- Inflatable yard decorations
- Christmas trees
Wreaths and Greenery
My tiny studio has flower window boxes, and they are perfect for Outdoor Christmas decorations. First, add greenery; both faux and fresh will work, then add berries, pinecones, Christmas bulbs, an outdoor candle, lights, and a bow.
No front door would be complete without a Christmas wreath. So why not make your wreath and bow for Christmas? I like to create a new bow every year to coordinate with my other decorations.
Supplies
- Christmas greenery (fresh and faux)
- Ribbon (bows)
- Christmas tree (new and fake)
- Christmas wreaths
- Outdoor candle with a timer
- Pinecones
- Wreath
Outdoor Christmas Lights
Supplies
- Outdoor Smart Plug (it works with Alexa)
- Outdoor extension cord
- Star with waterfall lights
- Illuminations LED LightWizard
- Universal light hooks
- Command hooks
- Christmas spotlights
- Outdoor solar fairy lights
My addition of techy gadgets for displaying Christmas lights has made the process so much fun. However, I am still learning how to use these new "toys."
These lights were easy to hang from the rain gutter. I installed new string lights that are icicles with snowflakes also from the rain gutter. It is the only snow we are going to have this Christmas.
The window flower box needed a small string of lights and an outdoor candle with a timer.
Porch Decorations
Adding Outdoor Christmas decorations to your porches adds some Christmas cheer for both your family and neighbors. You can create an outdoor room decorated for Christmas. If your patio protects the elements, you can use a vast array of items to decorate.
My DIY lanterns are not completely weather-proof, but they work wonderfully for decorating our porch. I added candles made from a tree branch that I drilled out a space to insert battery-operated tea lights and a mini boxwood wreath with a red bow.
Decorating your porch is easy with this step-by-step tutorial for a unique wooden triangle Christmas tree. This triangle tree can be used all year as a sparkling winter wedding or party decoration.
These Christmas mason jar luminaries add a soft glow to your outdoor or indoor Christmas décor. Learn how to make luminaries from mason jars with Cricut snowflakes and glitter. These DIY Christmas mason jars are super easy to make and add a lovely ambiance to any decor.
